Summer

Been absent at the blog for quite some time.  

Days spend leisurely reading is upon us, a common 

ritual here during summer.  Books are an important ingredient

for summer around here, as is pool time, lemonade 

and ice cream cones (like coffee ice cream in waffles cones).

Did, however, take the time to make a couple of bookmarks to 

match a couple of my current reads:

The Lake House by Kate Morton.  LOVED IT!  

It's her latest which was released last fall and somehow I

missed this.  Stumbled upon while searching for a different book

and promptly checked it out from my local library.  Did not

disappoint!

Papertrey Ink.  Ink: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss Pool Party and

copper embossing for the bottom part.

The Distant Hours by Kate Morton

This was Kate's third novel and I had already read it a few years back

but I couldn't remember all the details and decided to read

it again.  Still just as good as the first time!

Bookmark:  Stamp set Simply Sketched on watercolor paper, using

Elegant Eggplant color and Lost Lagoon ink with a watercolor brush.

Birthday Blooms

One of the first stamp sets I purchased from the spring Occasions catalog.  Can't have too many flower sets! 

Quick iPhone shots--so handy that phone camera :)

Thick Whisper White cardstock, Smokey Slate cs, Birthday Bouquet DSP.  Bloom versamarked on thick WW paper then heat embossed in white.  Colored with an aqua painters, blushing bride, watermelon crush, meadow moss inks.  Sequins from Hobby Lobby.

Last Teatime Cards

Last couple of cards I created for my Teatime class. 

Aqua gingham paper by Pebblesinc.com paper from their Basics line, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Crumb Cake cardstock.  Petite Petals set inked in melon mambo, pink pirouette and a retired pretty in pink.  Cup stamped with pool party ink.

Piece of gingham was cut to 6 x 1 3/4 and scored at

3-1/4, 3-3/4, 4-3/4, 5-1/4

There Is Always Time For Tea....

Always!  

Another card using the A Nice Cuppa set 

along with more of this pretty springy paper from Echo Park from their

Spring Collection papers.  

Card base is thick Whisper White Cardstock, Sahara Sand for the strip, Silver Foil paper for the fork and spoon, Pool Party ribbon and Melon Mambo Ink, Early Expresso for the sentiments (Balloon Celebration stamp set).  Layout inspired by Here

Tea Bag Pouch

Here is the second of the tea treat holders I showed yesterday.  Very easy and only using a 6x6 piece of designer series paper (shown here is from the Pool Party dsp--retired). 

I followed THIS easy tutorial from Brenda Keenan on YouTube. 

Used the same Echo Park floral paper for the cup from SU! Cups and Kettles die set for one side and then used the medallion stamp from the set Hello There (retired) to encircle the sentiment from A Nice Cuppa for the other.  The top of the pouch was made using the Curvy Trio Punch.

Made some cute little shortbread cookies in the shape of a tea bag to include in the treat holders.  Recipe found HERE.

Teatime Stamping

Hello!

Sharing a few pictures of a recent class with a favorite group of ladies.  I decided a spring morning tea and stamping was the thing for April and especially when I found the cute plates and napkins.  Thought it mixed well with the tea cups and saucers I already owned.  Fresh blooms from the yard along with tulips from the market kept things very springy.   Wished I had taken a better picture but as usual, my iphone was on hand at the moment.

Found this pretty non-SU! paper from Echo Park at a local scrapbook/papercraft shop and did all our projects with this along with SU! cardstock.  

First up is this cute little Tea Bag Pouch.   Inspiration for this came from Laura's Creative Moments, a stamper from the Netherlands.  Her treat holder was made using 12x12 cardstock, done in metric measurements and was a bit more embellished on the inside.  I simplified mine and used 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.   

Love SU!'s A Nice Cuppa stamp set and the Cups and Kettles Dies!  Treat holder used crumb cake cardstock, the Echo Paper floral dsp and a gingham dsp from Pebbles, Inc.  Little flowers are pool party and the heart steam is blushing bride cs.

The pouch actually could hold a couple more tea bags and/or another cookie.  

Here's written instructions I did for myself to create the holder and the inside box in US measurements and using 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock.  The inside box was modeled after Helene den Breejen's holder and you can see her's HERE.  I fiddled with the size of mine to suit my needs.    

I temporarily have a clothespin to hold this together for the photo.  For the one above, I used my crop-o-dile to punch a small hole through both panels together and then tied it closed with some burlap twine from the Dollar Store and a spoon from the Cups and Kettles Die in crumbcake cardstock.  

The little clothespin would be cute embellished.  May try that with this sample.   Next up,  I'll share the rest of projects we did including the little tea bag holder in the above pictures.

Easter Cards

Cute little lamb for my Easter cards that were sent back in March.  Such a sweet stamp image. 

Quick iphone shots before slipping them into their envies for mailing.  Both layouts were inspired off cards first seen on Pinterest.

On the card above, the Easter lamb stamp was heat embossed with gold and then his "fur" was colored in using the white gel pen and body parts were colored using the blender pen with Blushing Bride ink.  Paper is the Birthday Bouquet DSP

This card was a case of Inge Groot's layout I had seen on her blog.  The lamb was stamped with Stazon black.  Then I used a two way glue pen to adhere some white flocking on it's body and some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  Can't tell from the photo, but the lamb is a little sparkly.

LHN January Progress

Progress!  

Have had a couple of quiet days at home this week during the day 

and so I've enjoyed some time to sit and stitch.   

Had to redo the little pine tree as I miscounted where it's placement

 should be the first time around. 

Never fails that even with a small pattern, I'd mess up.

Such a cute pattern.

  

January Stitching

When winter arrives, it immediately puts me in the mood to stitch.   Something about cold weather outside, fireplace on, a nice cup of hot tea or coffee and needle 'n thread that makes me feel very relaxed.  

Here's a not so good photo (iphone once again) of my beginning process on a Little House Needleworks chart in the Cotton Thread Pack Series called Sampler Months.  First up is January.

but on 32 count Natural Raw Linen.

Hope to finish this soon and pop it into a frame before the month is out.  

Holiday Projects

A few Christmas projects I did with some sweet friends.  All are cased from stampers that shared on Pinterest or their blogs.  

These were so much fun to make, especially the globe ornament using SU!'s White Christmas and half globes bought from Michael's Craft Store.

Happy 2016!

Happy New Year!  

A quick post to re-enter blog land.  Hoping to post more in 2016 of my papercrafting and stitching efforts.  

I was totally behind in getting Christmas cards out so when January was at hand, I created some Happy New Year ones and sent those out instead.  Sorry for the photo quality.  In a hurry to get these out, I used my cell phone.  Not the best.  

Here are the 3 different styles I sent:

I used SU! Star Framelits in gold and silver foil, vellum with gold dots, Woodland dsp, last year's retired dsp, clear diamond bling, sequins and the stamp set Six Sayings.
